A Look at who we are

|
Our group is made up of diverse people with different production styles; some are truly farmers of the land; others are located within blocks of the downtown market and utilize their skills and kitchens to produce foods that you would not likely see in large chain stores. But our market group has a common thread of wanting to bring to the local community fresh and high quality products. |

We have organized together for the sake of maintaining a high standard of ethics and excellence in what we can offer to local consumers. By grouping together the market is better able to establish marketing guidelines for all our members. We are able to draw sufficient diversity of products so that any shopper would have a vast selection of things to select from. Within our organization we are guided by a few basic rules. These rules are meant to maintain quality to our customers and allow all vendors a fair opportunity to sell their products. Among the rules we require that: 1. All vendors must produce what they sell. This is the basic principle of a "Producer only" market to which we strictly adhere. 2. All vendors must be in Centre or adjoining county. Not only will this insure a fresher product for our customers but the transportation costs and environmental impact will be lessened. 3. We will not discriminate against any potential vendor based on race, color, sex, religion, age, and source of income. 4. We will allow a small portion of any vendor's stand to have craft items provided the vendor did make the items. Also some vendors may prepare food at the market site provided they adhere to strict food safety standards. These provisions don't detract from the farmers' market setting but add to its attractiveness and diversity. |
